Background: What Is Book Coach Corner?

Book Coach Corner is a blog series that allows me (your neighborhood-friendly book coach) to look at books, TV shows, and movies and dissect them in terms of story structure. There will be spoilers and some may posts not make sense if you haven’t seen/read the work, so wanted to give that heads up.

Those are the details. This entry is a little different and explores Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, a video game with some pacing and story issues.

Also, Author Note: I created some homemade images to illustrate narrative tension: Apologies in advance.

Synopsis

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth is the second installment in a series that is remaking the original Final Fantasy 7 (a ~25-year-old video game). The development team opted to transform the original 40-hour video game into a three-game series that can go deeper into the world and lore of a beloved classic.

Quick Thoughts

Like Taylor Swift and Zelda, the Final Fantasy video game series is something I write about often. It was very formative in my middle-school years. (tl;dr I moved schools, had no friends, and played video games to escape.)
